Newly appointed project team of NERCORMP III for Chandel and Churachandpur district in Manipur is all set to begin its operations from this month.
The third phase of the North Eastern Community Resource Management Project ( NERCORMP) for Churachandpur and Chandel District was launched in January in Imphal by Union Minister for DoNER Paban Singh Ghatowar.
The phase also includes three districts of Tirap, Changlang and Longding in Arunachal Pradesh.
A joint initiative of the NEC, DoNER and International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the NERCORM project is a livelihood and rural development project aimed at transforming lives of the poor and marginalized tribal families in the north east India, to improve their livelihood in a sustainable manner through improved management of resources, preservation and restoration of environment.
Chairman of NERCOMP and Secretary NEC Ameising Luikham, addressed the project team yesterday at the NEC office in Shillong .
He encouraged the team to proactively work towards fulfilling the objective of the project.
He also stated that NEC will continue to extend all support towards successful implementation of NERCORMP, which is a flagship project of NEC, a press release of the NERCOMP said.
The meeting was also attended, amongst others by L Baite, IFS, MD, NERCORMP, J Lhungdim, Planning Adviser, NEC, GK Chin, Financial Adviser, NEC, M.Iboyaima Meitei, Adviser (Agri/Horti), NEC and senior officers from NERCORMP public sector undertakings.
