Football: SAIRC, MPSC register contrasting wins in State League

Imphal, March 19 2025: SAIRC and MPSC recorded contrasting wins in Wednesday's action of the 17th Manipur State League 2024-25 at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.

SAIRC produced a masterclass with a 7-0 drubbing of AFC, with Kharibam Pravananda Meitei stealing the spotlight by netting a hat-trick.

The rout began early, as Pravananda opened the scoring in the 11th minute.

Bless Vashum added a second in the 26th minute, before Pravananda struck again just three minutes later to make it 3-0 .

After the break, Chihanring Lunghar extended the lead in the 52nd minute, and Pravananda completed his hat-trick in the 55th minute.

Huidrom Torres Singh added a sixth in the 65th minute, and Chihanring rounded off the scoring with a 69th-minute goal, sealing a comprehensive 7-0 victory.

In a closely fought encounter, MPSC managed to secure a narrow 1-0 victory over Elite FA .

After a goalless first half, Thangjam Kiran Singh broke the deadlock in the 64th minute with a decisive strike that ultimately proved to be the match-winner.

Both sides battled fiercely, but MPSC held firm to claim the three points.

Earlier on Tuesday, Sang-gai Heroes also enjoyed a comfortable outing, defeating FC Lamjao 3-0 .

Tensubam Brucelee Meitei set the tone early, finding the back of the net just two minutes into the game.

Kongkham Thoithoi Meitei doubled the lead in the 28th minute, and Shilngamba Shogolsem put the finishing touch on the win with a goal deep into stoppage time (90+3) .

On the other hand, Sainik School Imphal Old Boys' Football Club eased their way to a 4-0 victory over NEROCA FC.

Khomdram Radhakanta Singh (34), Saranso Tabronyu (40, Thanshokmi Mashangva (88) and Thangjam Chinglemba Singh (90+3) all got their names on the scoresheet in their comfortable triumph.
