Senapati, April 07 2025: The 1st Late Sepoy K Ashuli Vir Chakra (VrC Posthumously) Memorial Open Volleyball Tournament, 2025 commenced at Mini Stadium, Senapati.

The event is being organised by the 16 Assam Rifles in coordination with the Senapati District Olympic Association, Manipur (SDOAM) as part of a special initiative to honour local heroes.

K Ashuli hailing from Makhan Centre village, Senapati, was a soldier of 1st Battalion of the Naga Regiment, who made the supreme sacrifice on July 23, 1999 during Operation Vijay of Kargil war.

The Kargil War hero's unmatched bravery in the face of enemy fire before laying down his life at the age of 23 years in the line of his duty was fondly recalled during the inaugural function of the tournament featuring 10 men's teams and 8 women's teams from across the State.

The event will conclude with the finals and closing ceremony on April 11 , 2025 .
