DMRA0, SSU script emphatic wins in 2nd Premier League

Imphal, May 19 2025: DMRAO, Awang Sekmai and SSU, Singjamei made the easy work of their rivals to stretch their winning runs in the ongoing 2nd Premier League 2025-26 at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.

In a Group B match staged this afternoon, DMRAO came out all guns blazing to thrash Anouba Imagi Mangal, Khabam by 5-2 goals.

Coming off from a 5-3 win against KIYC, DMRAO looked to carry forward their momentum and kept the AIM defence busy from the word go.

They went ahead within two minutes as AIM defender Wilbert Meetei netted into his own net while trying to clear a shot.

AIM skipper Thiyam Amujao however made sure that they entered the break on level terms by netting the equaliser in the 21st minute.

Amujao also overturned the lead at the stroke of the hour mark converting a fine chance but relentless DMRAO rallied back and closed out the gap through Wahengbam Tejkumar in the 71st minute before Ningthoujam Naresh made it 3-2 after 74 minutes.

The scoring spree continued with Keithelakpam Ibotomba scoring another goal for DMRAO in the 77th minute before Maharabam Karan Singh further extended the lead to 5-2 after 85 minutes.

AIM tried to mount their way back but DMRAO defenders thwarted their moves in time to see out the game 5-2 and stretched their unbeaten run to 4 games.

In a Group A match staged later in the day, SSU rode on doubles from Laishram Roshan and Usham Robert to devastate Classic FA by 7-1 goals.

SSU, who played out a 1-1 draw with RAU in the previous outing, raced to a 4-1 first half lead as Laishram Roshan (39', 45') hit a brace after Yumnam Suraj (4'), Nongmaithem Sushilkumar (30') gave a fiery start.

Khullakpam Zahir Khan of Classic FA scored the only goal for the team in the 39th minute of the match.

After the restart, Usham Robert took charge of the SSU attack and banged home two goals back to back in the 59th and 66th minute to make it 6-1 before Sorokhaibam Amitkumar hit the final nail in the coffin in the 75th minute.
