Tennis Ball Cricket Tourney begins

The 4th Bikram Memorial State Level Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament, 2014 organised by Young Progressive Club (YPC), Yumnam Huidrom Makha Leikai began from today at its ground.In all 28 teams are taking part in the tournament which was inaugurated by Yumnam Nabachandra Singh, Chairperson of Thongkhong Luxmi Nagar Panchayat as Chief Guest; Okram Ibopishak Singh, Councillor of Ward No.5 Thongkhong Luxmi Nagar Panchayat as Guest of Honour and Longjam Nipamacha Singh, Retired headmaster of Yumnam Huidrom High School as functional president.
The opening match of the tournament was played between Dallas (Sagolband) and P.Y.C Sonalika ( (Konung Mamang).
PYC won the toss and elected to ball first.
Taking on the batting first, PYC secured 104 runs from 15 overs with nine wickets down.
In reply, Dallas could collect only 102 runs from 15 overs with 8 wickets down, and thus lost the match to PYC.
Manoj of PYC who took two wickets and 24 runs was declared man of the match.
On the second day of the tournament tomorrow, the first match at 8 am would be played between Y.P.U(Langthabal) and Khagemba-A (Kiyamgei).
The second match would be played between Lucky 11 (Hiyangthang) and TUSU (Upokpi) at 11 am and LCIC (Mairenkhul) and Bikram 11 (Yumnam Huidrom) would meet in the 3rd match to be played at 1 pm.
