Drugs recovered

Assam Rifles troops recovered banned drugs worth around Rs 21.6 lakh, which was abandoned by unknown persons along Indo-Myanmar border yesterday.
Observing movement of some suspicious people near the border in Tamil Sangam (Moreh) area, troops of 9 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR launched a search operation yesterday, said a PRO IGAR (S) release.
On seeing the AR troops the persons managed to escape into the thick jungles leaving a consignment behind.
On thorough checking of the consignment, Pseudoephedrine tablets weighing approximately 45 kg were recovered.
The cost of the recovered Pseudoephedrine tablets is estimated to be Rs 21,60,000. The Pseudoephedrine tablets have been handed over to Office of Customs, Imphal, added the PRO release.
