Echo Cardiography workshop

Said to be the first of its kind in the State privately run Sky Hospital and Research Centre today organised a 'free practical echo cardiography' workshop at its Sky Hospital Echo Lab, RIMS Road.
Informing that plan is on to make the event a biennial affair in Feb-Mar and oct-Nov, the Centre's chairman and chief cardiologist Dr L Shyamkishore Singh said in the western countries practical workshops on Echo Cardiography are held at regular interval.
Echo Cardiography is a painless test that relies on sound waves of the heart to create moving picture on computer screen for minute study on the shape and size of the heart as well as functioning of the heart's chamber and valves, explained Dr Shyamkishore.
Confiding that Echo Cardiography practical workshop is a necessity to facilitate the medical practioners, particularly cardiologists, have relevant and reliable data of the heart, he said through Echo Cardiography heart ailments such as hole, leakage or weakness could be visually studied.
The Echo Cardiography imaging technique is also highly reliable and harmless on pregnant women, Dr Sshyamkishore maintained who assured that efforts would be made to organise such workshops on a regular basis at the centre.
JNIMS Professor (Paediatrics) L Brajamohon speaking at the workshop informed that in other countries cardiologists who have no experience of attending Echo Cardiography practical workshops are not allowed to practice their profession.
Citing advancement in medical science throughout the globe, he said such workshops have become mandatory to update the medical practioners on the latest development.
Dr S Radhakrishnan of fortis Escorts Heart Institute, New delhi was among 10 delegates present at the workshop.
