AKSDO on roll, thrash THAU by 8 wickets to win 3rd MNCA U-19 Women's One Day Trophy

Imphal, May 19 2025: AKSDO women's teams have been unstoppable this season as the club, having sealed the U-14 and U-15 titles earlier this year, went on to claim the title in the 3rd MNCA U-19 Women's One Day Trophy.

The Khangabok side notched up a comfortable 8-wicket win over former champions THAU, Thangmeiband and last edition's finalists in their own ground in the title clash today to add another winners trophy to their medal cabinet.

THAU won the toss and opted to bat first.

They however did not fare well in the innings as Thokchom Langlen, Khundrakpam Rabina and Khundrakpam Bijiya struck regularly to share a bulk of 7 wickets and set up the collapse at 107.AKSDO then eased to the target within 21.4 overs with 8 wickets left to spare as Ningthoujam Langlen led the way.

THAU had a dismal start and slipped to 21/3 in 6.1 overs with Alish Thokchom, Kh Rabina and Kundrakpam Lucyrani sharing a wicket apiece for AKSDO, but Creety tried her best to calm things down and take the team to 51 with a four to the third man in the fifth delivery of the 13 th over.

With Usham Robeni providing assist on the other end of the crease, Creety went on to forge a 4 5-run partnership for the fourth wicket until she was caught and bowled by Thokchom Langlen on 33 (off 49 balls; 3 fours and 1 six) in the fourth delivery of the 19th over.

Her departure marked the turning point for the innings as Robeni was bowled out by Bijiya on 7 before Konjengbam Nonibala got run out on 9 for the 6th wicket at 87.Thoithoibi Ahongsangbam also tried her hand to steady the innings and took THAU past the 100-run mark (101) in 25.5 overs by hitting Alish Thokchom for a four to straight long-on before she was trapped lbw by Thokchom Langlen four balls later on a 2 5-ball 19 for the 7th wicket.

Bijiya of AKSDO picked her second wicket (2/27 in 7 overs) in the form of Khundrakpam Megnoria on a 7-ball duck to further reduce THAU to 105/8 in the 28th over before Rabina caught and bowled RK Valentina on a 5-ball duck for the 9th wicket and to complete her haul of 2 wickets (2/14 in 6 overs).

Thokchom Langlen then bowled out Pungyambam Milky on a 3-ball 1 to put THAU to sword at 107 in the second delivery of the 30th over and return with the best haul of 3/8 in 5.2 overs.

In reply, Moirangthem Daina 22 off 38 balls (3 fours) and Khundrakpam Bijiya 22 off 40 balls (4 fours) provided a good start adding 48 runs together for the first wicket before Ningthoujam Taniya 16 not out off 24 balls (2 fours) and Langlen 33 not out off 29 balls (6 fours) stitched another 56 runs off 50 balls for the third wicket to seal the victory.

Winners AKSDO were feted with a cash prize of Rs 40,000 and a trophy as runners up THAU settled for a cash prize of Rs 25,000 and a trophy.

Kh Bijiya of AKSDO was also adjudged player of the match and feted with a cash prize of Rs 1,000 and a trophy as FORCE's Rahamatun Khanam was emerged highest wicket taker and feted with a cash prize of Rs 1,500 and a trophy.

Sapam Kebriya of SHADOW meanwhile bagged both the highest run scorer (Rs 1,500 + Trophy) and player of the series (2,500 + Trophy) titles scoring 276 runs and clinching 6 wickets in 6 innings.
