Stage set for semi-finals of MU Inter College Football Tourney

Imphal, September 04 2019: The semi-final line up of the ongoing A Pratap Memorial Manipur University Men's Football Tournament have been completed with the conclusion of quarter final matches today at Kodompokpi ground.

Moirang College became the first team to make it to the semi-finals after beating Presidency College 7-6 on penalties after a 2-2 draw during regulation time.

Khaikhogin Kipgen opened up the scoring off a penalty kick in the 4th minute to give Presidency College the lead and scored another in the 64th minute after Malquer drew level for Moirang College in the 53rd minute.

Moirang College's Malquer however completed his double in the 70th minute and levelled the score again.

As the two sides failed to find the winner during normal time, the game settled via tie breakers wherein Sailesh, Suraj, Benjohnson, Mahesh and Malquer scored to give Moirang side the 5-4 edge as only S Nehgouhao, Satkai Kipgen, Thangsemlal K and Kamminlun Vaiphei found the net for Presidency College.

Mayai Lambi see off LMS Law Collge
In the second quarter final match, Mayai Lambi College and LMS Law College played out a 1-1 draw during normal time before the former team sealed a 6-4 win on penalties.

N Shankar scored for the LMS Law College in the 35th minute to cancel out Mayai Lambi College's first minute lead handed by H Rishikanta, before the shoot-out.

In the shoot-out LMS Law College could manage only three goals through M Prasanta, Th James and W Ajoy while L Ajit, W Borish, N Arunachal, H Rishikanta and N Roberth all found the net for Mayai Lambi College to make it 6-4 (aggregate) at the end to and set up semi-final date with Moirang College.

Thoubal College beat KMC Thoubal College were the third team to move into the semi-final after beating Kha Manipur College1-0 thanks to W Manglemba who cooly converted a penalty kick in the 38th minute of the match.

Thoubal College will meet Liberal College which defeated DM College of Science 4-2 via tie breaker in the 4th quarter final match today.

Earlier, Liberal College thrashed YK College 5-0 in a rematch of earlier pre-quarter final match.

Th Lemba shone with three goals (19', 32', 62') for the wining side in this one sided clash while his team mates N Kritibas (39') and N Manglemjao (48') added a goal apiece to set up the huge win.
