Jiribam, February 28: MPSC defeated KFC, kakching 3-1 at Pangei today to occupy fifth position in the 2nd manipur State league football tournament which has been reduced to 11 teams from 12 after Rengkai Athletic and Cultural Club, Churachandpur was scratched from the competition.

osting KFC at Pangei, MPSC opened up a two goal advantage when N Deshkumar and I Nilakumar struck in the 34th and 58th minutes respectively.

even though T Premchand managed to pull back one for the visitors in the 59th Nilakumar's second of the match in the 72nd minute sealed the tie.

MPSC and YWC, Thambalkhong is tied on 30 points each but the former with better goal average is at fifth spot.

RACC's expulsion from the competition was announced by the AMFA in a February 26 release that cited non-fulfilment of the Churachandpur side to play against USA, Khurai on February 25 as the reason for the penalty.

Further opponents that played or is slated to play against RACC will be awarded three points and three goals each.

Shajanglung football: The 11th Dr Shajanglung Memorial Football Trophy tournament organised by All manipur Tribal Medical Students' Union will commence from March 1 at the RIMS Mini Stadium.

The competition is slated to continue till March 8.
