2nd H Biramangol Memorial Trophy : YWC beat PTRC by 2 wickets for second win, Sanayai bowls AKSDO to 142-run victory

YWC, Langthabal beat PTRC, Patsoi Part IV by 2 wickets for the second Group C win in the ongoing 2nd MNCA U-23 Men's Haobam Biramangol Singh Memorial Trophy at Khudeiband Lampak, Taothong.
Having beaten SCCC, Singjamei Thongam Leikai in their opening match, YWC chased down a target of 140 runs in 25.1 overs with 2 wickets left to spare today courtesy of Heisnam Manikanta's all round performance.
Put in to bat first, PTRC gathered 139 runs for all wickets down in 32.4 overs following a sloppy start.
They were reduced to 26/4 in 10.4 overs as YWC skipper Manikanta got rid of the first three wickets on the way to his haul of three wickets (3/ 21 in 8 overs).
From 26/4, Pheiroijam Jotin tried his best to revive the chase but he lost two of his partners to Yumnam Chingkheinganba (3/24 in 5 overs) back to back before he fell prey to the same bowler on 51 off 43 for the 8th wicket.
Sorokhaibam Dailish too picked the 6th and the 7th wickets to finish with the bowling figures of 2/26 in 3 overs.
Soubam Robinson then made the easy work of the last two batters to finish with the figures of 2/22 in 5.4 overs.
Chasing 140 for the win, YWC got off to a flying start but lost both the openers at 26 after 15 overs before Manikanta took charge of the batting attack and took the team part the 100-run mark until he was bowled out by Pheiroijam Jotin on 43 off 59 balls for the 7th wicket in the 20th over.
From 125/8 in 23.1 overs, Yumnam Achouba 13 not out and Thokchom Rickymenan 2 not out held off the growing pressure to seal the victory within 2 overs.
Manikanta who picked three wickets and was 7 runs away from making a half century in the chase was adjudged player of the match.
Elsewhere at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground, AKSDO, Khangabok opened their Group D winning account in two games by crushing RULE, Meitram by 142 runs.
Opting to bat first, AKSDO piled up a commendable total of 294 runs for all wickets down in 40 overs thanks to half century knocks from Saikhom Kaiku (39-ball 73; 8 fours and 3 sixes) and Laishram Samson (62 off 56 balls; 11 fours and 1 six) before bowling out RULE for 152 runs in 35.5 overs as Sanayai Ningthoujam claimed a record 7-wicket haul (7/27 in 8 overs that include 2 maidens).
Bishorjit 48 off 42, Elangabam Chingamba 37 off 53 and Ningthoujam Sanayai 26 off 17 also made significant contributions to AKSDO's tally in an innings that saw Seram Indrakumar (3/56 in 8 overs), Sanjenbam Suresh (3/56 in 7 overs) and Rojit (2/68 in 8 overs) sharing 8 wickets.
Jay Singh topscored with a 54-ball 67 for PTRC as RK Herachandra added 31 off 76 balls.
They were the only batters who made double digit scores as 8 other batters ended up on single digit scores.
Ningthoujam Sanayai, who starred with the ball, was adjudged player of the match.
