Source: The Sangai Express

Imphal, March 11 2022: AR Polo Team outlasted CHPC-C by 6-2 goals as Lamphel Polo Club (PC) and MPSC-A sealed hard fought first round wins today to move into the last 16 round of the 37th Men's State Level Polo Tournament being organised by the All Manipur Polo Association (AMPA) at AMPA ground, Eroishemba.

In the 5th match of the tournament, AR Polo Team rode on Kh Shusilo treble to seal the 6-2 win against CHPC-C.AR Polo Team started the game on a positive note and took a 3-1 lead till the first chukker as Riyakat Ali opened the scoring in the 5th minute before Kh Chandra Kumar and Kh Shusilo chipped in a goal apiece in the 6th minute.

The lone goal of CHPC-C in the first chukker was scored by S Sadananda in the 6th minute.

AR Polo Team further extended the lead to 5-1 till the second chukker with Kh Shusilo and L Joykumar hammering back to back in the opening and the third minutes of the chukker but CHPC-C drew blank.

Shusilo then completed his treble in the opening minute of the third chukker to make it 6-1 in AR Polo Team's favour before N Premananda pulled back one more goal in the fifth minute of the final chukker.

AR Polo Team will now meet Tekcham Polo Club in the last 16 stage on March 14 .

Meanwhile in the second match of the day, Lamphel Polo Club edged out Paradise Polo Club 4-3 courtesy Premjit double.

K Rishikumar opened the scoring for the victors in the second minute of the match only to be equalised by K Premkumar of Paradise Polo Club in the third minute.

P Premjit however struck twice in the fifth and the seventh minutes of the chukker to give Lamphel Polo Club a 3-1 lead.

Ranjan then further extended the lead to 4-1 scoring his only goal in the 3rd minute of the second chukker but failed to add more in the latter half.

Paradise Polo Club failed to make the best of the chances in the second and the third minute but L Rohit Singh (1') and K Samananda (6') took their turns to add a goal each in the final chukker and reduce the gap to just one goal.

They however could not find the equaliser and eventually Lamphel Polo Club walked home as 4-3 winners.

Later in a similar encounter, MPSC-A edged out Tentha Polo Club 5-4 thanks to four goals by M Devnath.

M Devnath gave MPSC-A a 2-1 lead in the first chukker, adding twice in the 6th and the 7th minute after S Naoba scored it for Tentha Polo Club in the 6th minute.

M Devnath hit his third almost two minutes into the second chukker but Tentha Polo Club rallied back with I Rahul scoring twice in the 5th and the 6th minutes.

M Dinesh and M Devnath too converted latter chances in the same chukker to make it 5-3 till halfway.

S Naoba managed to score another in the final chukker but it was too late for the team to make a comeback and eventually, MPSC-A reached the last 16 round of the 26 team knock-out tournament.
