UBSA, KYVO advance into second round in 55th CC Meet

UBSA and KYVO advanced into the second round of the ongoing 55th Sir Churachand Singh, KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament, 2011 after defeating their respective opponents in today's match played at Mapal Kangjeibung, Imphal.
The first match today was played between UBSA and ESU with the two teams locking horns for a place in the second round of the tournament.
It was UBSA who stole the show by scoring two goals against ESU to advance to the second round.
Although UBSA won the match by a margin of 2-1 goals, ESU drew the first blood with a direct hit from Minthang in the 9th minute of the match.
The goal was equalise in the 34th minute of the match by a straight shot from HT Ritha Anal.
Another brace from Ritha Anal in the 89th minute of the match which almost took ESU players by surprise sealed the fate of the match with little time left to equalise the scoreline.
Robert of ESU was issued a yellow card for his unsporting behaviour.
The second match too saw some real actions between KYVO and JSYC trying desperately to dominate over one another.
KYVO was good enough to win the match with a scoreline that read 2-1 against a die-hard JSYC.
Lalneo of JSYC drew first blood in the 5th minute of the match.
The score was soon equalise by a goal of K Paolin in the 10th minute of the match.
The second goal of KYVO which sealed the fate of the match was scored in the 61st minute of the match by another brace from Paolin.
Still short of one goal, JSYC players tried their best to equalise the scoreline but could not succeed in their efforts and had to exit from the tournament.
W Chaoba and W Bobo of KYVO and Thanglen and Mangkhohao of JSYC were cautioned by the centre referee for their unsporting behaviour during the match.
The first match tomorrow at 12.05 pm will have some real action between MTFC and YDO for their berth in the second round while KSC will clash RYDO in the second match at 2 pm.
