IE Dist to meet Thoubal in 2nd Governor's Trophy Mukna Kangjei Tourney final

Imphal, March 28 2019: Imphal East will lock horns with Thoubal tomorrow (March 29) in the final of the 2nd Governor's Trophy State Level Mukna Kangjei Tournament organised by Kreeda Bharati, Manipur at Mapal Kangjeibung.

The first semi-final match of the tournament participated by 5 district teams saw Thoubal down Kakching by 6-4 goals riding on Johnson Moirangthem's trebble and a double from Kh Roshan.

It was a competitive first chukkra as Kh Roshan scored twice and Johnson and L Kishan scored a goal each to hand the Thoubal side a 4-3 lead.

L Somen, A Anand and Premchandra scored one goal each for the Kakching side in this chukkra.

The second chukkra witnessed Johnson Moirangthem run riot to score twice and completed the scoring while S Boyai of the rival team made a single strike to finish the game 4-6 .

Meanwhile, Imphal East dominated the second semifinal match against Imphal West and took up a 8-1 lead in the first chukkra before completing the 14-3 demolition.

Th Dingku took the centre stage for the Imphal East team as he fetched 4 goals alone including 3 in the opening chukkra which also saw L Sanatomba of the same team add twice while Kh Bungobi, N Romesh and L Ango score one goal apiece.

The lone goal of Imphal West in this chukkra was scored by H Chaoba.

Dingku got his fourth goal in the second chukkra in between N Taibanganba's two goals while L Apak, H Dinesh and L Sanatomba got a goal each for Imphal East.

Th Rabichandra and I Ajit of Imphal West also managed their name on the scoresheet with one goal in their names.
