4th AFC Tourney : 4 Star FC, Panthoibi FC register wins; Meira FC hold NSS

Imphal, June 21 2018: 4 Star FC and Panthoibi FC started their league campaign of the 4th AFC State Level 7-A-side Men's Open Cash Prize Football Tournament 2018 with 3-0 and 2-1 wins respectively while Meira FC were held to a 1-1 draw by NSS in the last league match of the day.

The tournament is being organised by Athokpam Football Club at AFC ground, Athokpam and a total of 16 teams clubbed into 4 groups are taking part in the tournament.

In the Group B league match of the day, Panthoibi FC edged past AFC by 2-1 goals in a keenly contested match.

The first half saw both teams go into the break in a 1-1 draw through goals scored by Lanchingam of Panthoibi FC and H Sumanta of AFC.

Panthoibi FC hit the opener in the 13th minute before H Sumanta levelled the scored through his goal in the 20+1 minute.

After the restart, the game tilted towards Panthoibi as they were bit more in possession and attempts.

Their efforts paid off when Inao made a fine run and beat the rivals' keeper to make it 2-1 in the 31st minute.

The scoreline remained undisturbed till the final whistle giving Panthoi FC the full points.

The Group C league match of the day witnessed Gopi of 4 Star strikes twice to hand his team an overwhelming 3-0 victory against WYC, Wangkhem.

The two teams played out a goalless draw in the first half before Gopi (29', 32') and Rojen (39) scored and sealed off a 3-0 victory in the second half.

The group C league match played later was also a very keenly contested match and as a result the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Meira FC, Tekcham opened up first with a goal scored by Gouro in the 14th minute but Chaoba of NSS denied Meira FC's hope to take home the match as he slotted the opener in the 19th minute.

The remaining portion of the game saw both teams desperately trying to add the winner but defence line up on either sides proved strong enough to all incoming attacks being made.

Sonalika FC will take on Bolero FC in a Group D league match tomorrow at 2 pm while MPSC Pangei will meet WFC, Moirangthem in a Group B league match at 3 pm.

Shamphabi FC will play Bobby FC in a Group A league match tomorrow latter at 4 pm.
