SAI NERC wishes best to four state Olympians

Upon Qualifying of four state players for the London Olympics 2012, the biggest sporting event of the world, the Sports Authority of India, North Eastern Regional Centre (SAI NERC) has wished best luck to the four state Olympians in the upcoming Olympics and bring fame to the country and the state.
Speaking to reporters in a press meet held at the Conference hall of the SAI SAG Centre at Khuman Lampak, Dronacharya Awardee Boxing Coach Ibomcha who is also the In Charge of SAI NERC told reporters that all the four players who have been qualified to represent India in the London Olympics are players who were originated from SAI SAG.
Today they are set to show their performances into the world thereby shining the name of the state among other nations and they are able to reach this stage with the cooperation from the people of the state and various civil society organisations, he said.
Ibomcha further said that Archer Laishram Bombayla was admitted in SAI in 2000 and she has been practicing as a SAI player since then.
Weightlifter Ng Soniya Chanu is also a SAI player and she was admitted in the SAI in 1997.Moreover, pugilist Laishram Devendro who is the youngest Olympian in the Indian contingent is also a player of SAI and he has been playing in SAI since 1998-99.Five times World Champion, Mc Mary also got admitted in SAI in 2000 and she has been practicing since then as a SAI player.
While stating that all the four players are all hard working, the coach wished them all grand success in the Olympics.
Ibomcha further said that SAI SAG in Imphal had so far produced 47 successful internation boxers till now.
This year has been the most successful year for the Centre with 11 gold and two silver in international boxing events.
In weightlifting also, the centre has produced five successful international weightlifters till now.
World Champion Mary Kom who had lost in the quarter final round of this years World Championships in China will be reaching Imphal on May 22 at 12.30 pm at the Tulihal Airport Imphal.
