PCC, Mayaikoibi and YWC, Langthabal sealed comfortable quarterfinal victories today to progress into the semi-finals of the 3rd MNCA U-19 Men's One Day Trophy as PTRC, Patsoi outlasted TRAU, Kwakeithel in a pre-quarterfinal match.
Lucky dazzles in PCC's win
In a quarterfinal match conducted at Khudeiband Lampak, Taothong, PCC notched up a commanding 243 run victory against YUCC, Kwakeithel Moirangpurel to ease into the semifinals.
Put in to bat first, PCC posted a commanding total of 262 runs for 5 wickets courtesy of half century knocks from Thokchom Lucky (79 off 60 balls; 7 fours and 3 sixes), Ziad Khan (55 off 82 balls; 5 fours) and Wairokpam Max (51 off 50 balls; 4 fours and 1 six).
Kangujam Boocker (5/6 in 5.2 overs) and Thokchom Lucky (5/12 in 6 overs) then combined well to rip apart the YUCC line up and bundled them out in 11.2 overs with just 19 runs on the scoreboard in reply.
Ningthoujam Rahulkumar (2/42 in 8 overs) and Ningthoujam Thoungamba (2/ 46 in 8 overs) shared four wickets for YUCC earlier in the first innings before they had a disastrous chase in which 0 batters went out on ducks and Khundrakpam Banny scored highest 6.Thokchom Lucky was declared player of the match.
Seram Daneil blazes unbeaten 112 to set up 123 run victory for YWC
In another quarterfinal match staged at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground, Daneil Seram found the fence 16 times, 12 fours and 4 sixes, to anchor with an unbeaten 112 off 82 balls guide YWC, Langthabal to a competitive total of 255 runs for 7 wickets in 40 overs.
Chasing 256 for the victory, PTCC, Patsoi Part III slumped to 132 all out in 32.2 overs as Yumnam Athouba (2/22 in 8 overs), Pukhrambam Roshan (2/25 in 5.2 overs) and Seram Tondonsana (2/17 in 2 overs) shared a bulk of 6 crucial wickets for YWC while three others picked a wicket apiece.
N Lamnganba's three wicket haul (3/49 in 8 overs) for PTCC went in vain as M Polenjit 33 off 106 balls, Ayekpam Roneljit 37 off 29 balls and N Dhirendrakishore 23 off 21 balls emerged the only double digit run getters for the team in the chase.
Daneil who shone with the bat for YWC was adjudged player of the match.
PTRC crush TRAU by 9 wickets
PTRC, Patsoi Part IV confirmed their place in the quarterfinals of the tournament by chasing down a target of 80 runs with 9 wickets left to spare today in a pre-quarterfinal clash at Moijing Public Ground, Thoubal.
TRAU opted to bat first but were dismissed for a meagre total of 79 runs in 21 overs as Laitonjam Jackson (5/3 in 4 overs) and Sagolshem Bush (4/24 in 8 overs) wreaked havoc to share 9 wickets between them for PTRC before Salam Richie scored an unbeaten 51 off 34 balls (9 fours) to seal the victory for the team.
Huiningshumbam Luching 45 off 32 balls and Brian Thoidingjam 16 off 23 balls led the TRAU scoring after they opted to bat first.
Gurumayum Shivestian was the only wicket taker for TRAU (1/8 in 2 overs) who undone Th Priyojit on 13-ball 10 before Salam Richie and Naoshekpam Ngambarel 3 not out off 10 balls finished off the chase.
Laitonjam Jackson who led in dismantling TRAU line up was adjudged player of the match.
