The morning match of the 1st Heibok T-20 Cricket Tournament 2018 organised by Langthabal Sporting Club at Langthabal Public ground saw REYS, Nagamapal beat CHAMP, Khagempalli by 5 runs while SSU, Singjamei thumped ESU by 5 wickets in the afternoon.
In the Group-C league match, REYS, Nagamapal won the toss and elected to bat first.
In their inning they posted a total of 104 runs for all wickets down in 19.4 overs.
In reply, CHAMP went down to 99 runs for 10 in 19.5 overs to give the Nagamapal side a 5 run victory.
Guniram hit 27 runs in 27 balls becoming the highest scorer for the Nagamapal side while Sashikanta made 24 runs off 36 balls.
Jayenta also contributed 20 runs in setting the target of 105 runs against CHAMP.
Though Sultan picked 5 wickets for CHAMP, their batsmen could not produce a strong side today.
Thomas and Arpit of the same team also claimed two wickets each in the first inning.
The second innings saw Rajesh of CHAMP strike 38 runs off 29 balls and the run chase looked almost easy for a while but his ouster marked the decline of the batting front and scoring capabilities.
Sultan struck 12 runs in 16 balls and was second highest scorer for CHAMP.
The consistent wicket taking feat of REYS was a major factor for their win.
Man of the match, Jayenta spearheaded the bowling front for REYS and claimed 3 wickets alone while Jitender and Niki picked two wickets each in the last inning.
In the evening match, SSU chased an easy target of 93 runs posted by ESU, Wangkhei in the first inning.
ESU won the toss and elected to bat first.
Wilson was the highest run maker for his team registering 21 runs in 19 balls while Boby scored 8 runs in 26 balls being the second highest scorer today.
Devan who picked 4 wickets played a very big role in bringing down the batsmen of ESU and in restricting the target to just 92 runs for all wickets down in 19 overs.
Rohit of SSU also dismissed two in the first inning.
In response, Rahul of SSU struck a huge 31 runs in 23 balls followed by his team mate Sahaf scoring 24 runs off 31 balls and led their team to take the path of victory.
Devan who was declared man of the match latter also contributed 4 runs in 11 balls.
They reached the target in 18.3 overs.
Chittaranjan and Mihul of ESU claimed two wickets each in the last inning.
CRAU, Khamnam Leikai will face Blue Hawk, Khurai in a Group D league match tomorrow at 9 am while Al-Ameen will play PCC, Mayaikoibi at 12.30 pm in a Group D encounter.
