JAC to boycott MLA T Robindro

A JAC against the brutal killing of Seram Basanta, Hougrampat, Moirang Khunou, today, warned that it will boycott its local MLA T Robindro and call bandh along Tiddim road from January 20 if the State Government fails to act upon the agreement and provide assistance to the surviving family members of Basanta.
A sit-in protest was staged at Moirang Khunou Hougrampat, Bishnupur district in connection with the death of Seram Basanta, who was killed on the night of May 1, last year in a road mishap that took place along Moirang Kumbi road at Hougrampat.
The sit in protest was staged demanding necessary steps from the Government on the agreement it brought with the JAC.
Earlier, JAC against the brutal killing of Seram Basant in a press meet on January 6 gave the State Government a dateline (January 15) to convert the agreement into action.
Moirangthem Leima Devi of the JAC said that an agreement was brought with N Biren Singh, local MLA T Robindro and other officials of the Government.
She further stated that, despite the assurance given by the Chief Minister, there has been no development in the past eight months.
The JAC has urged the State Government to extend its necessary assistance to the family before January 20 and warned that it will launch bandh along Tiddim road, boycott its local MLA T Robindro from the locality if the Government fails to meet the demands.
Basanta is survived by his wife, Seram ongbi Shakhenbi Devi and his two children.
Shakhenbi is the bread earner of the family, said our correspondent.
