CHAMP, LCCC victorious in T Subol Memorial T-20 Veteran Cricket

CHAMP, Khagempali capped their Group B campaign with a huge 7 wicket win against OSCAR, Paona Bazar while LCCC, Chajing extended their winning run to two in Group (A) stage by beating CYCLONE, Thangmeiband by 19 runs in the ongoing 4th T Subol Memorial T-20 Veteran Cricket Tournament.
In the Group B league match staged in the morning, OSCAR had to rue their decision to bat first as they bundled out for just 82 runs for all wickets down in 19.2 overs with Bablu's bowling for CHAMP slicing through their batting line up.
Gogou with 16 runs was the best OSCAR had today in their innings while Mohen and Pamlei managed 14 and 12 runs each.
CHAMP's Bablu shone with 4 wickets off 4 overs he had while Jodiba clinched 2 wickets in the 4 overs before Indraban and Gopal finished with a wicket each in their names.
CHAMP's chase was smooth enough and they reached home in just 9.5 overs with 7 wickets left to spare.
Rantan topscored with 22 runs off 16 balls in this innings while Jodiba produced an all round performance by scoring 16 runs before Indraban and Makar added 13 and 10 runs respectively to steer their team to the win.
Pamlei, Devdutta and Anngu of OSCAR picked up a wicket each in a losing cause.
Bablu of CHAMP was named man of the match for his four wicket haul and 3 run contribution in the chase.
Meanwhile in the Group A league match of the day, LCCC which routed DSU, Kwakeithel in the opening fixture sealed their second victory to keep the semi-final chance high by posting a 19 run victory against CYCLONE.
LCCC posted a handsome total of 164 runs for 8 in the first innings as CYCLONE opted to field first and held the latter team to 145 runs for 5 in 20 overs.
Mujibur Rahman was the highlight of the match as he blazed 61 runs off 45 balls for LCCC while his team mate Krishna added 26 runs off 22 balls.
Shrinivash and Gulson also added 16 and 14 runs respectively to help LCCC set up a huge 165 runs target.
CYCLONE's Robindro bagged two wickets in this innings which also saw his team mates Romel, Sur and Rohindro finishing with a wicket each.
In the chase, Thoithoi knocked a brilliant 62 runs in 69 balls but his effort went in vain as their innings ended up with only 145 runs on the scoreboard despite having 5 wickets left in the hand.
Shyamsunder also played sensible innings and clinched 25 runs in the chase while Rohindro and Sashi managed 20 runs each.
In LCCC bowling, Krishna etched 2 wickets in his name while Jiten, Jilla and Sanjit claimed a wicket each.
Mujibur Rahaman who hit a half century was named man of the match.
NAPSA, Kha Imphal will meet YWC in the last Group B league match tomorrow in the morning session while LCCC will play DSU latter in the last Group A league match.
