STS's general conference begins

The 55th general conference of Sirti Thiimjiitam Sourkhe (Monsang Naga Students Union) began Friday at Liwa Sarei Village under Chandel District.
The conference was opened with the hoisting of STS flag by STS president Sapa Wanglar Thiirtung and inauguration of a conference hall by MNBCA's translator Reverend Th Rockson in the presence of Monsang Officer's Association president Th Oliver, who attended the programme as chief guest.
On the second day (January 11), Tamei Assembly Constituency MLA Awangbow Newmai; Sirti Upa Ruh (Monsang Tribe Union) president, Ng Gilbert; Naga Students Federation (NSF) president, Ninoto Awomi; MBC mission secretary, Alani Shongsir; MNBCA executive secretary, W Moses Monsang and Manipur Catholic Women Organization president, Ts Shelvi Monsang as the dignitaries.
Awangbow Newmai unveiled the memorial stone of the concerned and also released a souvenir while a team led by STS and SUR former president, Ng Benithan presented gifts to the dignitaries.
On the occasion, Awangbow Newmai said that the law and order situation in the State has improved in recent years.
Saying that people want to live in an environment where there is lack of conflict and violence between individuals or groups, the MLA added that every individual has to contribute and respect cultures, rights and traditions of different communities for peace to prevail.
It is reported that a cultural session will be held in the presence of Lok Sabha MP Dr Lorho S Pfoze; Autonomous District Council Chandel Member, Sh Manglem Monsang; United Naga Council president, S Kho John and Autonomous District Council Ukhrul Member, Dr Yaronsho Ngalung.
The valedictory function of the general conference will be conducted on January 13 .
