38th State Aquatics Championship-2025 : S Pietersen wins gold in 200 m backstroke for Group III boys

Imphal, May 11 2025: Soram Pieterson clinched the gold medal in the 200 m backstroke for Group III boys in the 3 8 th State Aquatics Championship-2025 being underway at Standard College Swimming Pool complex, Kongba.

Pieterson swam 3:3.84 (3 minutes 3.84 seconds) to win the gold medal as Achom Lanchenba and Laishram Reo finished second and third clocking 3:21.77 and 3:29.48 respectively.

Sagolshem Panthoi (31.62 seconds) and Sarangthem Dolly (1:43.16) were able to seal the Group II 50 m freestyle and Group IV 100 m freestyle event gold medals on Day of the competition.

N Budhachandra meanwhile sealed the Group I Boys' 100 m freestyle event gold by finishing with the best time of 1:0.54 as Gaithuilung Golmei (1:06.64) and Puyam Suranjit (1:07.30) finished second and third.

Dekalu Th Panmei on the other hand claimed the Group I Girls' 100 freestyle gold taking 1:09.26 while Thounaojam Adishree finished second with a time of 1:10.49.In the meantime, Thoudam Gaitri (1:17.03), S Panthoi (1:21.84) and S Dolly (50.82 seconds) also registered impressive timings in the Group I Girls' 100 m freestyle, Group II Girls' 100 m freestyle and Group IV Girls' 50 m breaststroke events.

Lanchenba wins 50 m breaststroke gold for Group II Boys.

Laitonjam Lanchenba was able to claim the gold medal in the 50 m breaststroke event for Group II Boys taking 32.73 seconds.

Nongmaithem Dhananjoy (35.43 sec) and M Pravesh (37.75 sec) finished second and third in this competition.

Thounaojam Adishree meanwhile won the gold medal in the Group I Girls' 50 m breaststroke competition completing the task in 40.56 seconds while Laithangbam Matilda finished second with 44.71 seconds.

L Piouson meanwhile clocked 34.12 seconds to top the 50 m breaststroke event for Group I Boys as Gaithailung Golmei followed suit with 38.75 seconds finish.

Puyam Saranjit meanwhile claimed the senior men's 50 m breaststroke event gold with a time of 38.50 seconds as Oinam Dimboy (41.73 seconds) finished second.

Md Domish bags 200 m freestyle gold for Group III Boys The day also saw Md Domish finishing atop of the 200 m freestyle event for Group III Boys taking 2:49.02 in a photofinish contest as Angom Lanchenba closely followed with a time of 2:49.64.Later in the day, Sarungbam Athouba clocked 2:21.94 seconds in the senior men's 200 m individual medley before registering a 9:59.25 finish in the senior men's 800 m freestyle competition.

Meanwhile, Koijam Athoiba (2:15.20) and Thangjam Mangalsana (2:37.57) and Laishram Reo (3:12.63) sealed the top three positions in the Group III Boys' 200 m freestyle competition as Sarangthem Dolly (3:37.30), Nongthombam Budhachandra (2:23.45) and Sarungbam Taibanganba (3:02.95) recorded their best times in the Group IV Girls, Group I Boys and Senior Men's 200 m freestyle competitions.
