63rd CC Meet Quarter final league round : SSU blank XI-Star SU 3-0 to climb atop Group C, F4C finish Group A runners up

Imphal, March 11 2022: SSU, Singjamei eased to a 3-0 win over XI Star SU, Akampat in a Group C quarter final league round match of the ongoing 63rd Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Invitation Football Tournament to go on top of the league table.

SSU will meet Sagolband United (SU), who won 2-0 against XI Star SU, in a clash for group winners on March 13 .

The Singjamei got off to a flying start with L Roshan scoring the opener in the 4th minute and P Naoba doubling the advantage two minutes into the added time of the first half.

The Akampat team too had their chances but went abegging in front of strong SSU defence line and to much disappointment their condition further worsened when A Nanao had his way to slot home the third goal for SSU.

SSU then held their citadel intact to brace the late pressure and eventually saw out the game 3-0 .

Meanwhile in the last Group A quarter final league match, F4C, Saikul edged 2-1 past KIYC, Kshetri Iril Mapal to finish group runners up.

They had lost the previous match 1-2 to KLASA FC.

KIYC enjoyed earlier dominance and were 1-0 ahead till the break thanks to Worchuipei Kasung goal in the 10th minute but Ngulgoulal Singsit pulled level for the Saikul team in the 61st minute.

The two sides had to trade a series of runs in search of the difference until Abelson Jachi converted a penalty deep into the stoppage time (90+4') to seal the issue for F4C.CFA, Chingmeirong will play NEROCA FC, Sangakpham for the Group B pole position and a place in the semi-finals tomorrow at 2.15 pm.
