YAC, KDCO post contrasting wins in 9th MNCA Plate Tournament

Imphal, December 03 2024: YAC, Yaiskul clinched a 2-run victory against OSCAR, Paona Bazar and KCDO, Kongpal pulled off a 40-run victory against THAU, Thangmeiband in today's matches of the 9th MNCA Plate Tournament 2024-25 that kicked off yesterday.

As many as 17 teams clubbed into two groups are taking part in the tournament.

Yesterday, NAPSA, Kha Imphal defeated IBSA, Yumnam Leikai by 9 runs in the Group A opener as KSDO, Kyamgei defeated NCA, Ningthoukhong by 5 wickets in the Group B opener.

In the Group A match staged today at Lairenjam Public Ground, KCDO racked up 184/9 in the allotted 35 overs and restricted THAU to 144 for 9 to seal the 40 run victory.

Ksh Devendro Devlee 48, Bikram Phandom 24, Hafiz Imran 21 and Ben Lai 20 were the leading run getters for KCDO after they opted to bat first.

The innings saw Khumukcham Romesh 4/23 and Hanjabam Joykishan 2/ 29 share a bulk of 6 wickets in this innings for THAU.

For THAU, Thoudam Yoihenba 28 and Rajkumar Thapa 26 were the main run getter as Netajit (3/31), Mani Moirangthem (2/35) and Hemjit (2/24) produced frugal bowling performances for KCDO.

KCDO's Ksh Devendro Devlee was adjudged player of the match.

At Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground, YAC opened their Group B campaign with a slender win thanks to concerted bowling effort.

Put in to bat first, YAC gathered 191/9 in 35 overs thanks to Singhajit Sharma's 44 not out and contributions from Amit Singh 32, Joychandra 19, Oinam John 16 and Huidrom Guneshwor 13 not out.

Pawankumar Wahengbam 3/46 and Sorokhaibam Samson 2/34 led the bowling attack for OSCAR before they slumped to 189 in 31.4 overs despite efforts from Sorokhaibam Samson 38, Pradeep Thoudam 34, Pawankumar Wahengbam 31 and Da Ratan 26 .

Singhajit Sharma 2/43, Oinam Kiran 2/24, Huidrom Guneshwor 2/31, Joychandra Ngangom 2/33 shared 8 wickets for YAC to set up the win.

YAC's Singhajit Sharma was adjudged player of the match.
