IMC clinch veteran handball title; YLK teams seal sub-junior honours

Imphal, May 11 2025: IMC were crowned champions of the 1st State Level SSC Veteran Handball Tournament 2025, while YLK won both the girls' and boys' events of the 47th State Level Sub-Junior Handball Tournament.

The final matches were held on Sunday at SSC Ground, Khurai Nandeibam Leikai, Imphal East.

In the veterans' final, IMC delivered a commanding 21-14 victory over SSC to claim the winners,' trophy.

Th Sanoy spearheaded the win with an impressive 10 goals, supported by O Oken, who netted four.

Contributions also came from L Santakumar, Th Budhachandra, and Y Muhen, each scoring twice, while O Bijout added a goal to seal the triumph.

The sub-junior tournament saw YLK secure a nail-biting 23-22 win against KVWA in the boys' final, with standout performances from Sh Roshan (6 goals), H Mangal (4), and N Thoibi (4).Meanwhile, the YLK girls dominated their final against KKLYDO with a resounding 20-10 victory, led by L Nomika, who scored an outstanding 9 goals.

The closing ceremony was attended by former deputy chief minister Yumnam Joykumar as chief guest, alongside SSC president W Tarunkumar as functional president.

Guests of honour included social workers Laitonjam Jayananda and N Diten, Huidrom Design Studio principal designer Suresh Huidrom, Saraswati College Pangei chairman Plus Phijam, and Manipur Handball Association secretary Arambam Birendra.
