North Imphal sporting Association (NISA), Thangmeiband wrested the 2nd Manipur State League football title after a goalless draw with the inaugural edition's champion TRAU, Tiddim Road at the former's home turf in Sekmai today.
While NISA's nearest rival NEROCA, Shangakpham was awarded maximum points with three goals as its opponent today RACC, churachandpur had been scratched from the competition, the Thangmeiband side's goalless draw was enough to clinch the title with a point more than their Tiddim Road rivals who culled 48 points from 22 matches in the 12 team League.
NISA, which is also the reigning CC Meet champion will receive top cash prize of Rs 2 lakh while NEROCA stand to gain Rs 1 lac.
TRAU secured third position on 43 points pipping SSU, Singjamei by a single point.
In the day's other matches, ESU, Wangkhei outclassed host YWC, Thambalkhong 3-1, SSU edged past MPSC at its home turf in Chajing ground and host PYC (Phoudel) defeated USA, Khurai 4-2.In the Thambalkhong tie, ESU cruised to 3-0 lead with goals from S Heman (46th, 50th) and E Amitkumar (68th) with Indramani netting the hosts' consolation goal in the 76th minute.
The keenly contested MPSC versus SSU match began with the hosts opening the score only four minutes into the game through G Ninja Kabui as N Dhananjoy (31st) and Kh Ratan (35th) consolidated the advantage.
I Nilakumar (40th) and Ksh Kanta (82nd) scored for the police side.
In PYC's defeat of USA Md Riyas Khan (7th, 39th) and Kh Kiran (40th) starred for the home team before M Angangcha's own goal in the 56th minute made the scoreline 4-0.L Romio (57th) and W Daniel (74th) narrowed the score deficit.
The League competition will conclude tomorrow with AMOFA, Moirang (26 points) pitted against KFC, kakching (18) at ESU ground, Wangkhei.
