KIMACS to observe Thang-Ta from Oct 16

Imphal, October 12 2021: The Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts and Cultural Society (KIMACS) is set to observe this year's "Thang-Ta Day" from October 16 to November 15 on the theme "Thang-Ta for Social Change" .

KIMACS in a statement said that the day has been an annual affair since 2019 and this year's month-long observation will be filled with cleanliness drives, awareness campaigns, rallies, tree plantation drives among other activities.

The day is observed to commemorate the agitations by KIMACS activists in demand for recruitment of teachers on July 26, 29 and November 11 in 2018, arrest of activists and their release on November 15 the same year.

It was then agreed by all to observe November 15, 2018 as "Thang-Ta Day", it said.

The observation committee of the day also urged all CSOs and concerned citizens of Manipur to participate and support the monthlong observation and the activities to be conducted during the observation period.
