2nd H Biramangol Memorial Trophy : Hanjabam Donba picks 6 to help ESU finish Group C winners

ESU, Wangkhei Palace Compound rode on Hanjabam Donba Sharma's prolific bowling performance to beat CHAMP CC by 34 runs for the fifth win and finish atop Group C table of the ongoing 2nd MNCA U-23 Men's Haobam Biramangol Singh Memorial Trophy.
ESU had to regret their decision to bat first as they had a slow start and slumped to 142 all out in 39.5 overs at Lairenjam Public Ground.
Despite their dismal batting effort, they successfully defended the total by bowling out CHAMP CC for 108 runs within 28 overs courtesy of Hanjabam Donba (6/12 in 7 overs) and Hanjabam Naoba (2/22 in 8 overs) .

Khundrakpam Bishomcha 19 off 18, Sagolshem Ronal 19 off 43, Hanjabam Donba 15 off 58, Sandham Abhinash 15 off 30 and Ahongshangbam Jenash 14 off 15 were the main run getters for ESU in the innings that saw Md Babu (3/23), Potsangbam Ritz (2/10) and Nawaz (2/36) sharing 7 wickets.
In reply, Nawaz struck 61 off 52 balls and Samir added 24 off 42 but their efforts went abegging as 6 batters went out on ducks including three undone by Hanjabam Donba Sharma to end with the paltry total of 108 runs.
Khundrakpam Bichomcha (1/26) and Thokchom Simesh (1/28) also claimed a wicket apiece to inflict early damage in this innings before Naoba and Donba completely changed the complexion of the game late on.
Donba was adjudged player of the match.
In another Group C match of the tournament staged at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground, TRAU, Kwakeithel beat PTRC, Patsoi Part IV by 2 runs to finish the group campaign with 2 wickets and fourth in the table.
Put in to bat first, TRAU posted 146/10 in 34.2 overs thanks to Yumnam Amritakaran's 93-ball 64 and Mutum Swabhiman's 12-ball 25 but PTRC slumped to 144 all out the in 37 overs of the chase despite Salam Richie 34 and Aribam Rohit 32 .
Pheiroijam Tamarland (4/12), Laitonjam Jackson (2/35) and Laitonjam James (2/41) led the successful PTRC bowling attack before Mutum Swabhiman derailed their chase by picking 5 wickets (5/15 in 8 overs) with the assistance of Arubam Preethson, Yumnam Amritakaran, Sanjenbam Somokanta and Thangjam Rishi who also picked a wicket apiece.
M Swabhiman was eventually declared player of the match.
Elsewhere at Khudeiband Lampak, AKSDO crushed THAU, Thangmeiband by 165 runs for the fourth win in five matches.
The result helped Group D runners up and eventually qualified for the quarterfinals alongside PCC who won five of five group stage victories.
Put in to bat first, AKSDO rode on L Winchelly's 72-ball 72, Khundrakpam Borish's 49 to amass 237 for 8 wickets before Ningthoujam Sanayai (3/7 in 4.3 overs), Winchelly (2/9), L Akash (2/24) and Saikhom Dinesh (2/16) set up the THAU collapse at 72 in 24.3 overs.
P Hilbert (3/33), Hanjabam Diamond (2/39) and Kh Romesh (2/25) led the THAU bowling department today before K Rohan 17, P Hilbert 14 and H Diamond 10 emerged main run getters in a lost cause. Winchelly who produced an allround performance was adjudged player of the match.
