Imphal, May 16 2009:
The Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) today pointed out that the Manipur Chemists' and Druggists' Association (MCDA) is blind that some drugs devoid of fulfilling the composition contents have been sold in the state.
Talking to reporters today at DESAM's office here, thestudents' body president, LC Santosh said that Wirokil Oral Drop of the Alembic Limited Co, Nimsed Suspension of Medley Pharmaceutical Limited, etc have been proven short of the compositions materials by the Maharashtra government last March.
The same have been declared 'not of standard quality' by the government of Maharashtra.
But these sub-standard drugs have been sold in Manipur, Santosh said adding that it is very unfortunate for the people that such drugs have been not banned by the MCDA.
Reacting to the statement of MCDA general secretary RK Ratankumar who said that DESAM lacks knowledge of the ground reality, LC Santosh said that one of MCDA's weaknesses is that they are not reaching medicines to patients due to monetary demand served by some militant groups.
