Imphal, July 10 2009:
Union Minister of Power Shushil-kumar Shinde today dedicated to the nation the 510 MW Teesta Stage-V power station of NHPC in Sikkim.
Governor of Sikkim Balmiki Prasad and Chief Minister Dr Pawan Chamling were also present at the inaugural function.
Constructed at a cost of Rs 2619 crores Teesta Stage-V power station works as a peaking power station and helps in stabilising the eastern grid.
The power beneficiaries of the power station are Damodar Valley Corporation, West Bengal, Bihar, Sikkim, Orissa and Jharkhand.
Annual power generation from the power station is 2573 Gwh.
