Following failure of the State Government to come up with any positive response to their ultimatum regarding revocation of the State Cabinet decision of 2003 on cancellation of the 2001 census report, the people of Mao-Maram, Paomata and Purul sub-divisions has decided to impose economic blockade with effect from March 24 midnight till midnight of April 5, informed a release.The decision was adopted during a meeting held at Senapati district Hqs yesterday.
During the meeting, a new body christened Youth Front was constituted and empowered to launch economic blockade on Nh 39 from March 24. In case State Government fails to respond positively even after the blockade, the same may be extended for a longer period or indefinitely.
However, essential services and religious ceremonies will be exempted from the purview of the economic blockade, added the release.
