Imphal, February 08 2015:
Environmentalist Dr Kh Shamungou has warned that the structure of the famous Tharon cave would undergo drastic changes if trees growing in the surrounding hills are cut down incessantly.
He was speaking at a public discussion programme on preservation of environment christened Green Sunday held at Tharon Baptist Church today under the aegis of Western Forest Division, Tamenglong.
Tharon is also known for its Alangtakhou waterfall, monkeys, Shabeng and hornbill.
The gathering took a collective pledge to safeguard forests and environment.
IBCN State Coordinator RK Birjit and Range Officer Kh Hitler too spoke at the programme.
