Imphal, February 08 2015:
On the occasion of the 28th raising day of its armed wing Manipur People's Army (MPA), the Military Affairs Committee (MAC) of the proscribed UNLF has conveyed gratitude to the masses for their relentless support to the liberation movement.
A statement issued by the UNLF MAC Chairman Khundongbam Pambei informed that the UNLF/MPA has been celebrating February 9 as MPA's raising day since February 9, 1987 when MPA's first batch passed out at the Chumnu Camp, then used by NSCN as their headquarters.
Apart from denying right to self determination of Manipuri people, the Government of India has been pursuing many sinister policies with the objective of exterminating Manipuri Nation from the surface of the Earth, reads the Chairman's statement.
The fundament of any Nation or society is freedom.
Manipur's lost sovereignty can be restored when all the people join the 'liberation movement' directly or indirectly.
With a firm conviction and a sense of sacrifice, MPA will discharge the task assigned to them.
Real owners of a territory or country are its citizens.
The masses have the confidence and capability to live as citizens of an independent country.
People of Manipur have the right to free themselves from the bondage and repressive rule of New Delhi, claimed the outfit and added that only people's war and struggle can restore the lost sovereignty.
"Once Manipur's sovereignty is restored, our people can certainly safeguard the hard-won freedom", Pambei asserted.
A country's sovereignty and freedom of its citizens would not be presented on a platter by any outsider.
Only people's collective struggle can win back the lost sovereignty.
MPA's duties are towards the Nation and its combatants would never indulge in anything unacceptable to the masses.
Before doing anything, MPA combatants should think carefully whether their activities would be beneficial and acceptable to majority of the masses.
"The UNLF is fully convinced that as long as the party and its combatants receive support of the masses, no force on Earth can defeat us", the MAC Chairman asserted.
To convince the masses that freedom and future prosperity are central to UNLF's struggle is one foremost task of the party.
There were several instances when the masses were aggrieved by the mistakes or misdeeds committed by MPA cadres.
Such misdeeds have the potential to segregate the revolutionary cadres from the masses apart from decelerating the liberation movement.
The MAC is aware of the possible fallouts of these misdeeds and it has initiated necessary measures to avoid such misdeeds in future.
A notion of critical dependency on India has been ingrained among some elites and self-proclaimed leaders of Manipur.
This notion is dangerous for the masses because this sense of dependency always tries to subdue the spirit of freedom.
The newly imbibed notion of survival by begging from India has severely impaired the fact that Manipur can survive and prosper independently.
There are many who got infuriated when Indian Prime Ministers' visits to Manipur were boycotted.
One primary agency which is advocating the notion of dependency on India is the State Government which is habituated to begging for funds/economic packages from the Government of India.
There is no separate work for the UNLF than the works which would benefit the masses.
People's responsibility is the party's responsibility and the party would always solicit collective struggle.
The greater the number of people who have joined the armed struggle, faster would be the pace of the liberation movement.
War of liberation should be waged by the collective strength of the masses.
There is no force which can withstand people's collective strength and wisdom.
UNLF's efforts are directed at de-linking the notion of dependency from the collective psyche of the masses and empower their collective conscience towards realization of their right to self determination, Pambei conveyed.
