Imphal, February 08 2015:
Pangal Student Organization (PSO) has warned the relevant authority that they cannot misuse funds meant for minorities.
MA Wakil, president PSO has claimed that development funds meant for minorities have been diverted by the govern-ment.
In an interaction with media, Wakil informed that in 2014 Ministry of Minority Affairs, Govern-ment of India has sanc-tioned rupees one crore forty nine lakhs sixty seven thousand and eight hundred (1, 49, 67, 800) under Multi Sectoral Development Programme (MSDP) to be utilized in minority concentrated areas of Imphal East District CD Block II .
On the contrary, president added, by conniving between some state officials and politicians projects have been added for areas that do not have concentration of minorities and inclusion of Moirangpural High School under Andro constituency is a case in point.
President highlighted the said amount is meant for Tumukhong that have one Government run High School and an Upper Primary School.
Tumu-khong has been verified by District Collector of Imphal East as an area eligible for the programme.
Instead, at the insistence of MLA of Andro constituency the amount was diverted to Andro by flouting established rules and regulations charged Wakil.
Consequently, PSO has urged the authority to follow the norms and utilized in areas that have minority settlement.
Non adherence to rules, warned PSO, will force the organi-zation to launch various movements, in association with other civil society organizations, to force the authorities to follow the rules established by law.
