Imphal, March 18 2009::
As a security measure for the coming Lok Sabha polls, District Magistrate Senapati has directed all the licensed fire-arm holders within the district to deposit their arms to the nearest police station immediately.
District police will make fool-proof arrangement for keeping the deposited fire-arms in safe custody and will be handed over to respective owners after the election processes are over.
District Magistrate has also prohibited carrying of fire-arms including licensed arms within the district with immediate effect.
However, the prohibition is relaxed for security personnel on duty.
