Cocking a snook at the claim of the Assam Rifles that six MPA cadres were killed in an encounter on February 24 at Thangbung village in Chandel district, the proscribed UNLF today said that the false information was spread to mislead the public and testifies the growing frustration of the security forces.
In a statement, the outfit said that the incident had nothing to with UNLF/MPA and added that the information was without basis.
The outfit further claimed that New Samtal, Layang and the adjoining areas which were over run by the security forces have been reclaimed by the outfit.
These areas are under the control of A Coy of the 293 Bn of the MPA.
The security force have not been able to approach the Bn Hqs of the 293 Bn, it added.
At the moment, the security forces have set up camps at Old Somtal and Molcham.
Despite their best efforts, more than 20 SF have been killed while many more have been wounded in the 20 clashes that have occured since Operation New Samtal-II was launched, claimed the outfit and admitted that one MPA cadre was killed while two suffered minor injuries.
