Imphal, May 26 2010:
At least three cadres suspected to belong to Kuki National Front (KNF) were killed today in a marathon gunfight with suspected cadres of the Kuki Liberation Army (KLA) at Molkang village under Kasom Khullen police station of Ukhrul district.
Police report said that the gun clash erupted around 5 am today and went on till noon.
In that, apart from killing three cadres on the KNF side, one KLA cadre also sustained injury in the gunfight.
Cadres of KLA had reportedly collected three arms, one each of G-3 rifles, SLR and 303 rifles with magazines and ammunitions, from the possession of the slain KNF cadres.
Kasom Khullen police have also retrieved the dead bodies from the clash site.
They are likely to transport the dead bodies at RIMS morgue tomorrow for necessary official identification.
