CM asks new recruits to commit to the Nation

Imphal, December 23 2024: Chief Minister N Biren has asked new recruits of Manipur Police to commit to the Nation.

Speaking at the passing out parade of recruit Constables (MR/ IRBn) of Manipur Police held at Lachit Barphukan Police Academy, Dergaon, Assam today, Chief Minister N Biren stated that the new recruits become Indian soldiers once they wear the uniform and they should commit to the Nation.

N Biren expressed his gratitude to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and the Government of Assam for making all the required arrangements for imparting basic training to the huge contingents of Manipur Police during the difficult time the State has been facing and for providing space for training new recruits from Manipur.

"We should honour the DGP, Government of Assam and senior officers who have put in heart and soul for providing the training to all the new recruits from Manipur", Biren said.

He added that with their support and the training provided at the Lachit Barphukan Police Academy, the new recruits have become well-trained personnel.

The Chief Minister recalled that during his first term as the Chief Minister of Manipur, he approached Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the then Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and requested them for allocation of additional State security forces to guard the long stretches of National Highways passing through Manipur.

Following that, the Central Government had suggested establishment of two Indian Reserve Battalions for the same, he added.

He appreciated and thanked the Prime Minister and other Central leaders including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for their support and concern for the State.

Biren continued that the recruitment process was carried out earlier.

However, due to COVID-19 pandemic, the results could not be declared immediately.

The process for result declaration was initiated after recovering from the pandemic, he added.

Biren asked the newly trained personnel to share their experience with their families and near ones on how they stayed and acquired training together as one, regardless of the communities they belong to.

He continued that they should become the beacons in the process of restoring peace and tranquillity in Manipur.

Transport arrangements have been made for the trained personnel to come back to Manipur by flights, buses and trains as per their convenience, on their request, Biren said.

He further wished them safe return to Manipur and asked them to maintain the same oneness they showed during their training in Assam and work together for a better Manipur.

Governor of Assam and Manipur Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Ministers and MLAs of Assam and Manipur, DGP of Assam, senior police officials, parents and guardians, and other officials also attended the programme, among others.
