Heroin worth Rs 2 cr recovered

Assam Rifles personnel recovered 410 gms of heroin worth around Rs 2.055 crore from three peddlers at Khudengthabi check post on Dec 5 .
According to a statement issued by the PRO of IGAR (S), based on specific intelligence report regarding drug peddling on NH 102, troops of 24 AR of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) apprehended three drug peddlers alongwith contraband drugs at Khudengthabi check post on Dec 5 .
They were travelling in a Maruti van bearing registration number MN 00 1S-0474 and heading towards Imphal, the statement said.
The apprehendees were identified as Vahneikim Kipgen (26) w/o Lalginlen Kipgen of Moreh Ward No 8; Lalginlen Kipgen (25) s/o Phanglunmang Kipgen of Khanganangbi, PO & PS Kalapahar, Senapati district and Konthoujam Ampal Singh (27) s/o (L) Bishna of Top Moirang Kampu, PO & PS Porompat, Imphal East, the PRO release said.
410 gms of heroin worth Rs 2.055 crore, two mobile phones with three SIM cards were recovered from their possession.
The apprehendees along with the recovered items have been handed over to the Narcotic Control Bureau Imphal, it added.
Sander wood recovered : Discovering the transportation of illegal wildlife products, troops of 9 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) launched a swift search operation in the general area of B Bongjang and recovered approximately 485 kgs of banned red sander wood worth Rs 19.40 lakh on Dec 6 .
The recovered unclaimed banned red sander wood has been handed over to the Forest Department, according to a statement issued by the PRO of IGAR (S) .
