Tamenglong Orange Fest ready to take off

Despite the boycott call by UNC, the stage is set ready to celebrate the 11th State Level Orange Festival at Tamenglong district headquarter.
Tamenglong market in the least populated hill district of the state has been congested prior to the Orange Festival.
As part of the festival, a seminar was held at Indoor stadium Tamenglong, where as many as 350 orange growers participated and they are going to join in the best orange competition tomorrow.
The organising committee has issued 300 forms to the orange growers to participate in the Orange Best competition, however another 50 growers are likely to participate as private.

L.Santos Singh, SMS (Hort); Th.Surjit Singh SMS (Plant Pathologist); Ginbuanlung SMS (Hort) and Lungkhuanang Riamei, SMS (Agri) participated as resource persons of the seminar on declination of citrus (orange) in Tamenglong district and recommended remedies.
In the meantime, the Deputy Commissioner Tamenglong RH Gonmei appealed to all people of this district to come on time to participate in the programme and make the programme a grant success.
On inspection of the venue, the deputy commissioner Tamenglong disclosed that as many as 34 orange queens have reached Tamenglong to join the contest.
He said that as many as 300 stall are coming up tomorrow and the juries are also from outside the district.
He also disclosed that all the orange competitors are genuine and no buyer competitor is allowed to participate this year.
