Imphal, April 08 2025:
A petition has been filed at the High Court of Manipur seeking the transfer of Luwangthem Mukesh's case to the NIA .
Luwangthem Mukesh has been missing since March 16, 2025 .
Speaking to media persons at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai community hall today, JAC Against the Missing of Luwangthem Mukesh convenor S Sukadeva Sharma pointed out that it has been 23 days since Luwangthem Mukesh went missing.
Considering the failure of the Government to gather any clue regarding the whereabouts of Mukesh all these days, people are getting suspicious if the Government has a tacit understanding with the Kukis regarding the disappearance of Mukesh.
"We feel suspicious whether the Government is not searching for the missing youth in reality because of objections raised by Kukis", Sukadeva said.
Citing the Governor's statement that security forces have been searching intensively for the missing youth, the JAC convenor asked as to why the Government is still unable to locate the youth.
He said that a petition was filed at the High Court of Manipur on April 7, 2025 seeking transfer of Mukesh' case to the NIA and establishment of his whereabouts.
A complaint has also been lodged with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) regarding the disappearance of Mukesh, said the JAC convenor before announcing that the sit-in-protest staged at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai community hall would be suspended for some time.
Meanwhile, the protesters shouted slogans demanding safe rescue of Luwangthem Mukesh at the earliest.
They also denounced the way Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla has been dealing with the issue of Mukesh.
