Imphal, April 07 2025:
The Wings of Hope Charitable Trust has extended assistance to support livelihood of 35 widows and education for 58 children.
Aids were extended to the widows and children during a programme held at Janmasthan Club, Keishamthong Moirang Ningthou Leirak today.
The 58 school going children include 56 orphans and 2 internally displaced children.
The aid will ensure their education till Class XII .
To provide livelihood to the widows, the Trust would train them as team leaders of Self Help Groups (SHGs).
These groups will try to supplement alternative means of livelihood in their respective villages.
The women are all from the peripheral areas of the valley such as Phayeng, Sekmai, Oksu Ningthemcha, Senjam Chirang etc.
They have all been adversely affected by the crisis wherein the sole bread earners, mostly daily wagers, succumbed to the unfortunate clashes that broke out on May 3, 2023, said the Trust president, retired Lt Col L Manongba.
Notably, the Wings of Hope Charitable Trust has earlier provided education and livelihood support to 31 widows and 57 children.
