Maharaja Narasingh remembered

Maharaja Narasingh Memorial Committee, Imphal and Shri Shri Gopinathjee Temple Board observed the 233rd birth anniversary of Maharaja Narasingh at Sagolband Mabudhou Mantri Leikai today.
As part of the celebration, a statue of Maharaja Narasingh was unveiled by MP Leishemba Sanajaoba.
Sagolband MLA RK Imo inaugurated a renovated sacred pond inside the Maharaja Narasingh complex.
Former Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Education Dr Rajkumar Ranjan and Shri Shri Gopinathjee Temple Board president Rajkumar Dhiren attended the celebration.
The gathering offered floral tributes to the statue and a portrait of Maharaja Narasingh.
Speaking to the gathering, Dr RK Ranjan recalled Maharaja Narasingh's deeds and contributions he made to rebuild Manipur and unite her people after 7 years of devastation.
The Maharaja believed in unity among the people of the valley and the hills, he said.
Only unity among the people and a clear vision will propel Manipur forward.
The people collectively must focus on the present and steps that must be taken to avoid past mistakes, he added.
MP Leishemba Sanajaoba also recalled Maharaja Narasingh's contributions towards Manipur and her people.
He asserted that the people of the State must learn from history and unite to face and resolve the current issues.
The public, people in the Government, civil society organisations must unite as one for protecting the State bringing about peace, he added.
