To solve the problem of marketing their products by the farmers in the State, the State Government would be coming out with a marketing policy within the current fiscal year, 2008-09, Agriculture Minister N Loken has announced.
Inaugurating the Ist State Level Farmers' Meet at GM Hall here today, the Minister claimed that the various schemes implemented by the State Agriculture Department to encourage the farmers to cultivate various agricultural produce in last fiscal year have borne fruits.
So to solve the problem of marketing the produce being faced by farmers, the State Government would be coming up with a marketing policy within the current fiscal year.
Necessary arrangements in this connection have already been put in place, the Minister informed, while exhorting that the farmers should join hands with the Agriculture Department in setting up model villages.
Director of Agriculture Department RK Nayansana Devi and Director of Planning K Mangi Singh attended the function as president and guest of honour respectively.
Farmers who have succeeded in cultivating and producing various agricultural products were also felicitated at the occasion.
In continuation of the programme, Associate Prof Dr Y Chakrabati of Department of Agricultural Economics, Central Agriculture University; Senior Faculty member of ICM Dr KI Meitei and Development Officer of Oriental Insurance Company Limited, Imphal Branch Kh Phulendro spoke on different topics related to development of agriculture as resource persons.
