Tamenglong, February 28:
Continuing with its campaign to reach out to the neglected parts of the hill parts of the State, the campaign launched by UNIDEP reached Tamenglong on Feb 26 with the stress on education.
As part of the drive, a free coaching class for students appearing in the forthcoming HSLC and HSSLC exams was held from January 23 to February 23.

The coaching class was conducted by the Zeliangrong Students' Union, Tamenglong sponsored by UNIDEP.
Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics were taught in the coaching class which was conducted at the Tamenglong Higher Secondary School.
Six teachers were deputed to teach 107 students of the district in two batches.
ZSU co-ordinator Taluiyang said that apart from expected questions, students were taught answering patterns and time management for the March 3 examination.
Students who have completed the coaching told The Sangai Express that the coaching was beneficial to them and has boosted their confidence to face the ensuing examination.
ZSU also conducted a mock HSLC exmanination after the coaching on February 24 and 25.NK Meithuanlunglei, Machang-thuiliu Newmai and Wisanbou Thiumei bagged first, second and third prizes respectively in the said exam.
Prize distribution cum career counselling function for the said examination was organised on February 27 at Tamenglong indoor stadium with campaign UNIDEP convenor R Yangsosong Koireng, Tamenglong DC Devesh Deval and former minister DP Panmei as president, chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
Commandant Officer 11 AR Lt Col Neelu Arya and AMUCO advisor Dhanabir Laishram were also seated on the dais.
Giving his presidential address Yangsosong Koireng recalled the various programmes taken up under Campaign UNIDEP.
He said that AMUCO presented gifts to the people of Tousem prior to Christmas celebrations.
Apart from it, the team also extended modest assistance to the people of 53 villages affected by bamboo flowering in Tamenglong district.
He also appealed tio the students/youth to work a peaceful coexistence.
Speaking on the occasion, Devesh Deval advised the students not to get discouraged under the notion that one belongs to a backward area.
One must move forward with determination and not forget one's sense of responsibility, he added.
DP Panmei in his presidential address stressed on the responsibilities and duties of the students/youth.
Speaking as a special invitee, AMUCO VC Dr Dhanabir Laishram mentioned the importance of human resource development.
He also emphasised on the importance of hard work, patience, determination and responsibility of the students/youth which according to him are collectively known as national characters.
Earlier, speeches on career counselling were delivered by Lt Col Neelu Arya, Devesh Deval, Dr Chambo and DP Panmei on various career options for the students.
