Imphal, February 26: Protesting undue interference from UGs in connection with admission to PhD courses in various Department of Manipur University, students of the University staged a sit-in-protest demonstration in front of the main gate of the University at Canchipur today.

The protest demonstration was organised by Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU).

According to MUSU representatives, following undue interference and pressures from the UGs insisting on selecting candidates of their choice for admission to PhD courses in various Departments of MU, a situation has arisen in which the faculty members and Professors of the University are ready to resign from their respective posts.

During the course of the demonstration, the student protestors used placards inscribed with slogans like 'Make University peaceful zone', 'No to interference of outside forces in the University campus', etc.
