Imphal, February 18: Three senior doctors who had already been sentenced to 3 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) after being pronounced them guilty for swindling a huge amount of money in procuring medical equipments at exorbitant rates have again been sentenced to the same punishment term but on different case number today.

The court of Special Judge No.I (Manipur West) Th Surbala Devi today sentenced Dr G Mani Sharma, Dr T Vijaychandra and Dr T Brajamani Singh and Supplier Ashok Kumar Jain to three years RI with a fine of Rs 1 lakh each.

If they fail to clear the fine amount their punishment/sentence term would be extended by another six months, the court ruled.

These three doctors had already been sentenced to 3 years rigorous imprisonm,ent by the same court n February 12 in connection with the same medical scam dating back to 1981 .

The court, however, released the four on bail after they filed bail applications on the plea that they would appeal against today's order before the High Court.
