Imphal, March 13: Disappointed over the alleged failure of the State Government to take up necessary actions despite repeated appeals and reminders, the Core Committee formed in connection with abduction of Mohini Martin and Hrinii Herbert, both students of Don Bosco School, Senapati studying in class III, has announced that it would call a Manipur bandh very soon.

Meanwhile, over and above the cash reward of Rs 1 lakh which the Core Committee had already announced, the Senapati District Women Association has also announced another Rs 1 lakh as cash reward for any person who can provide information in connection with the two missing children.

Addressing a press conference in this connection at the office of AMUCO here today, Core Committee chairman Solomon Veino said the failure of the State Government to do what is needful in connection with the crimes taking place in Manipur is really unfortunate.

After the incident of abduction of Mohini Martin and Hrinii Herbert on Dec 14, 2006 came to light, a memorandum had been submitted to the Chief Minister on Dec 24, 2006.The said memorandum had proposed for instituting a State Level Search Committee and urged for restraining political interference in the case.

In first week of January 2007, another memorandum had ben serviced to the Chief Secretary which was followed by an open letter to the Governor on February 26.In the absence of any response from the side of the Govt in this connection, the Core Committee had imposed a Statewide bandh from March 1 to 4 demanding to find out the whereabouts of the two missing children and secure the safe release from the clutches of the unknown abductors.

However, consideration of the public appeal to suspend the bandh in view of the Yaoshang festival, the bandh had been lifted on March 3, the Core Committee chairman reminded.

If the State Government continues to remain indifferent over the issue, the Core Committee would be constraint to call another Manipur bandh very soon with the support and co-operation of various social organisations, the chairman warned.

The chairman further noted that despite the commitment of protecting the territorial integrity of Manipur and shouting for the same in the Assembly, the State Govt would not be able to do so without any action.

There is no sign of any Government machineries working in Senapati district and the Government should understand the suffering of the people of Senapati district, he said.

Inspite numerous incidence of crimes being committed on innocent children in Manipur, the State Government has never be able to find out the culprits within 24 hours.

This only shows that the State Police Forces are not doing their duty, he alleged.

While urging the underground organisations to help in resolving the cases of the two missing children, killing of a girl child at Andro and the yesterday's gruesome incident of killing a boy, the chairman has also fervently appealed to all the people and the social organisations both in the hills and the valley district to extend their co-operation with the Core Committee in finding out the whereabouts of the two missing children.

Over and above the cash reward of Rs 1 lakh which the Core Committee had already announced to any person who can provide information on the two missing children, the Senapati District Women Association has also promised another cash reward of Rs 1 lakh, Solomon Veino informed.
