Imphal, August 08: Security forces have apprehended six activists of different banned armed organisations from various places in the last 48 hours.

According to a statement issued by Imphal West district's Senior Superintendent of Police L Kailun a team of police commandos of the district acting on credible information arrested one cadre each of the KYKL, PREPAK (GS) and PREPAK (VC) outfits this morning.

The KYKL activist identified as Meisnam Yaiphaba Meitei alias Bung alias Lucky (31) s/o (L) M Nodiyachand Singh of Thangmeiband DM College Gate was hauled up from his home at around 8.15 am.

After joining the KYKL in March this year through one Mubi Singh of Wangkhei Thangapat mapal and working in the finance section of KYKL's Imphal East district Yaiphaba was assigned to abduct three non-Manipuris in March, Engineers of PWD and panchayat members in June 2008 for ransom.

One mobile phone handset with sim card bearing No 9862047533 has been seized from the captive's possession, the SSP said.

The PREPAK (GS) activist arrested by a combined team of Imphal West commandos and troops of 32 Assam Rifles from Thangmeiband DMC Gate at around 9 am has been identified as Wangkheirakpam Romeo Singh alias Baruni (27) s/o W Momocha Singh of Soibam Leikai Khanlabung Leirak.

Romeo is said to have disclosed that he joined the outfit through one S/S Sgt Major Gurumayum Sunil Sharma of Bamon Leikai and was working in the Finance Section of PREPAK (GS).

About 30 minutes later the district commandos nabbed one PREPAK (VC) activist from Sagolband Moirang Leirak who has been identified as Longjam Bikram alias Kengba (26) s/o L Gambhir Singh of Moidangpok Mamang Leikai.

Bikram joined PREPAK in 2005 through one RK Ajit of Keithelmanbi and worked under S/S Lt Janeson, the statement mentioned while adding that Bikram was assigned to recruit three children from Moidangpok.

On the otherhand, a PRO IGAR (S) statement informed of 32 Assam Rifles' troops arresting one PREPAK (GS) cadre from Takyel area yesterday.

The captive identified as Wahengbam Bishrup Singh (19) s/o (L) W Shamungou Singh of Takyel Kolom Leikai has been handed over to Imphal East police commandos, the PRO added.

combined teams of Imphal East district police commandos and troops of 39 Assam Rifles also apprehended two underground activists belonging to the banned UNLF and PREPAK organisations yesterday.

The UNLF cadre identified as Moirangthem Pintu Singh alias Thomba (21) s/o M Dhiren Singh of Naoremthong Takyel Khongbal was arrested from Khurai Sajor Leikai at around 7.30 am.

According to a statement issued by the SP (IE) Th Radheshyam Singh, Pintu joined UNLF in February 2003 through one Yumjao of Langjing Achouba and trained at Nanpolong, Churachandpur district under Army No.1660.About two hours later, the combined force netted a PREPAK sympathiser identified as Mutum Herojit alias babu alias Lenin (28) s/o M Kumar Singh of Keishampat Mutum Leikai from Khurai Kongpal.

Herojit is informed to have worked for the armed organisation since January this year through one Huirem Boby alias Thoi of Naoremthong.
