Naga Conclave to begin today

Imphal, May 06 2025: A four-day event christened 'Naga Conclave-2' organised by the United Naga Council (UNC) will begin from May 7 in Senapati district headquarters.

The event is supported by the Naga Women Union (NWU) and the All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM).

The four-day programme will be held under the theme 'Critiquing grand narratives'.

On the first day, UNC president Ng Lorho will address the event.

On the first session of the second day i.e May 8, Prof Xavier Mao, Department of Philosophy, NEHU, Shillong, will speak on the topic 'Geopolitical colonial framework: a critique' .

Prof Xavier will also speak on the topic 'Contextualisation of colonial strategic geo-political framework: a critique'.

In the third session of the second day, human rights activist Chingya Luithui will speak on the topic 'A perspective on the historico-politico legal framework of colonialism governing the tribals' .

In the fourth session of the second day, Dr Benjamin Gangmei of United College, Chandel, will speak on the topic 'Constitutional proviso of tribal rights vis-a-vis the Indian Constitution with reference to Article 371-C' .

In the first session on the third day, Dr Chingri Vashum of DM University, Imphal, will speak on the topic 'A comprehensive perspective of Naga customary and traditional rights' .

In the second session, Dr Lokho Puni, retired IFS officer, will speak on the topic 'Situating contemporary development trajectory within the neo colonial ambit' .

In the third session of the third day, Kh Siile Anthony, former Director of HRD, NEC, will speak on 'A contextual dialogue on the development matrix'.

In the fourth session of the third day, social activist Ngachonmy Chamroy will speak on the topic 'Polemics and dynamics of political development: a way forward' .

On the final day, in the first session, Prof Rosemary Dziivichu, co-convenor of Global Naga Forum, will speak on the topic 'A contemporary historical narrative of Naga political trajectory: a dialogue' .

In the second session, Chuba Ozukum, convenor of Global Naga Forum, will speak on the topic 'Traversing the Naga political trajectory' .

A panel discussion led by Neingulo Krome, NPMHR secretary general, will follow.
